Jakarta to Labuan Bajo is a direct flight of about 2 hours 30 minutes to Komodo Airport (LBJ), and a one-way seat booked a few weeks ahead costs IDR 1,400,000 to 2,600,000. Some services are routed through Bali and take longer. From Bali the flight is about 1 hour 15 minutes and IDR 900,000 to 1,800,000.
The airport is ten minutes from the harbour where every Komodo boat leaves, so the real planning is matching your flight to the boat.

Book a morning departure where you can. The afternoon flights from Bali are the ones that slip, and a late arrival costs you the evening you would spend getting ready for the boat.
How much a trip from Jakarta to Labuan Bajo costs
Start with the flights: IDR 1,400,000 to 2,600,000 each way, so IDR 2,800,000 to 5,200,000 return. Add IDR 100,000 to 150,000 for the taxi at each end of your stay. The cheapest boat is the one-day speedboat trip at IDR 1,450,000, and a foreign visitor pays about IDR 400,000 in park fees on top.
That puts the shortest version, flights and one day in the park, at about IDR 4,850,000 per person before hotel nights and meals. Swap the day trip for three days on a shared phinisi and the boat becomes IDR 6,000,000, with park fees usually quoted at about IDR 650,000. Every meal is included once you are aboard, which is why the longer trip costs less per day than it looks. Children get 25% off both boats and infants travel free.
Fares are the part you can move. They climb in July, August and over Christmas, and morning flights booked a few weeks ahead are the ones that hold their price and their schedule.

One day in the park, back by 17:00
A shared speedboat to Padar, Pink Beach, Komodo Island, Taka Makassar, Manta Point and Turtle Bay, with hotel pickup at 06:30, lunch and snorkel gear.
Jakarta direct, or through Bali
Fly direct if the times suit. If they do not, or you want a few days in Bali first, split the trip in Denpasar. The Bali to Labuan Bajo leg runs seven or eight times a day, with the first flight landing at 08:15 and the last at 18:00.
Our Komodo from Bali guide has the full flight table and explains why a same-day return from Bali is so tight.
The direct Jakarta flights are few: about 13 a week as of July 2026, every one of them leaving between 09:15 and 13:30, so there is no evening option. Two airlines fly the Bali leg nonstop, about 54 times a week, and two thirds of the departures are in the morning. On that route November is the cheapest month and July and August the dearest. If your Jakarta flight lands in Bali after lunch, plan to sleep there and take a morning flight on.
Is there a boat from Jakarta or Bali to Labuan Bajo?
There is no tourist boat. The one sea route is Pelni, the state passenger line, which sails from Benoa in Bali to Labuan Bajo once or twice a month. Economy class is IDR 295,500 and the voyage takes 33 to 37 hours. It is a working liner with deck-class berths, and it is slower than the flight by more than a day.
That liner starts in Bali, so from Jakarta you would still have to get to Benoa first. The sailing trips people read about leave from Lombok, not Bali or Java. Ours is the four-day boat between Lombok and Labuan Bajo, which arrives by sea through Komodo National Park itself.
From the airport to the harbour
Komodo Airport has one terminal and no taxi meter. A fair fare to town or the harbour is IDR 100,000 to 150,000, and drivers often open at twice that. Bring cash, because the terminal ATM is sometimes empty. The details are in our Labuan Bajo airport guide.
The other ways into town are a motorbike booked on Gojek or Grab for IDR 30,000 to 50,000, which works with one small bag, or a hotel pickup, often free or about IDR 100,000. Car services on those apps cannot collect at the airport. If your boat leaves the next morning, the transfer is usually part of the trip, so ask before you pay for one twice.
Labuan Bajo, Flores
Land one day, sail the next
Three days on a phinisi around Komodo National Park, with pickup from your hotel or the airport at 08:30 and a return before noon on the last day.
Timing the flight with your boat
Arrive the day before you sail. The one-day speedboat trip collects guests at 06:30, before the first flight from Bali has landed. The three-day boats collect at 08:30, and the first flight from Bali lands at 08:15, so one delay loses you the cabin.

Flying home is easier. The three-day shared liveaboard is back in harbour between 11:00 and 12:00 on its last day. Allow 90 minutes at the airport and pick an afternoon flight.
Leave a spare night
Weather delays are normal between December and February. Volcanic ash has closed the airport overnight, and the harbour master can stop boats for a few days when waves are high. One spare night before an international flight covers all three.
The best months to fly from Jakarta to Labuan Bajo
April to November is the dry season, when the sea is usually calm and flights run closest to schedule. It is also when fares peak, in July and August. December to February brings weather delays in the air and the longest closures at sea: over the last monsoon, boats did not sail from late December 2025 to 4 February 2026.
Two things have closed or disrupted the airport itself. Volcanic ash shut it from 18:00 on 7 July 2025 until 07:00 the next morning. After the earthquake of 15 August 2026 it kept flying with one damaged taxiway section closed. Neither lasted long, and a single spare night would have covered both.
How many days to allow from Jakarta
Three days is the minimum that works. Fly in on day one, take the speedboat trip from 06:30 to 17:00 on day two and fly home on day three. A weekend with a Saturday arrival and a Sunday boat leaves no room for a delay. Send passport details two to three days before the boat, because the park slot is booked against a date.
For the three-day phinisi, allow five days. You land on day one and board at 08:30 on day two. The boat is back between 11:00 and 12:00 on day four, and an afternoon flight that day is possible, though a night in town and a morning flight on day five is the plan that survives a late return.

Flying in from Singapore or Kuala Lumpur instead
If you are joining friends from abroad, they may not need Jakarta at all. Komodo Airport has two direct international routes, from Kuala Lumpur in about 3 hours 40 minutes and from Singapore in about 3 hours 20 minutes, though neither flies every day. Our guide to Singapore to Labuan Bajo has the schedule and what the connection costs.
Booking the trip
Choose the boat first, then buy the flight around it. Since 1 April 2026 the park needs a dated slot for every visitor, and that slot is what sells out. Send us your dates and we will plan the trip with you before you commit to a fare.

Frequently asked questions
How long is the flight from Jakarta to Labuan Bajo?
About 2 hours 30 minutes on a direct flight to Komodo Airport (LBJ). Some services are routed through Bali and take longer. From Denpasar the flight is about 1 hour 15 minutes, and from Surabaya about 1 hour 30 minutes direct.
How much is a flight from Jakarta to Labuan Bajo?
A one-way seat booked a few weeks ahead typically costs IDR 1,400,000 to 2,600,000 from Jakarta, IDR 900,000 to 1,800,000 from Bali and IDR 1,300,000 to 2,200,000 from Surabaya. Fares climb sharply in July, August and over Christmas, so book once your boat dates are confirmed.
Is it better to fly to Labuan Bajo from Jakarta or from Bali?
From Jakarta, a direct flight is simplest if its times suit you. Bali has far more choice, about 54 flights a week or seven to eight a day, so it is the easier place to connect and the better stop if you want beach days before the boat.
Can you get from Bali to Labuan Bajo by boat?
Only on the Pelni passenger liner from Benoa, once or twice a month. Economy class costs IDR 295,500 and the voyage takes 33 to 37 hours. There is no scheduled tourist boat from Bali, and the multi-day sailing trips people read about leave from Lombok.
Should I fly to Labuan Bajo the day before my Komodo trip?
Yes. The day trip collects guests at 06:30 and the three-day boats at 08:30, while the first flight from Bali lands at 08:15. One delay would cost you the trip, so a hotel night in town the evening before is the safer plan.

Park fees add about IDR 400,000 for a foreign visitor. Three days on a shared phinisi start at IDR 6,000,000 with all meals.
